Also of interest to the descendants of Patrick W. Gainer is Chestnut Grove Cemetery where the Patriarch and Matriarch of our Gainer clan are buried: George and Sarah Gainer.
From Good Shepherd Cemetery, turn right on 3rd Run Road. After crossing the bridge at Tanner, bear left. In about 2.8 miles, Trace Fork will go to the right. Keep left. The road will become gravel shortly thereafter. In about 2 more miles, there will be a road on the right that goes across Tanner Creek. Turn right there. Go about a quarter mile. You will see the church and cemetery on the right. If you want to take a shortcut to the gravesite, park along the road when you see the cemetery, and hike up the embankment around to the right, up the hill to the historic part of the cemetery. The grave is on a little knoll.
The approximate GPS coordinates to the gravesite are 38°56’02.0″N 80°59’17.3″W.
The Map below also shows alternate directions if you are coming from Glenville.
Note that this cemetery is not part of the Chestnut Grove Church property. The land belongs to Leon Ramsey and he is maintaining the cemetery for us while he can. The Good Shepherd Cemetery Corporation needs to keep an eye on it and be good stewards for it in case the Ramsey family has to sell.

George and Sarah’s grave. The first picture above is the view of cemetery looking towards the church from behind George and Sara’s grave.
